Islands of Hope Update – 31/03/2018

Sometimes when I’m on holiday I seem to not be able to write much. However this week I have managed another decent update. I have somehow completed Chapter 17. I am not sure if this week’s update is brilliantly written but it does do a little world building and gives some more background information. It is more of Johanna’s mission, once again showing how out of her depth she is. She escapes a close shave yet again. Next week we will move away from Johanna to carry on other story threads. For now you can read the update on wattpad. Chapter 17 is here, or you can start from the beginning here.

Early Islands of Hope Update – 22/03/2018

Another weekend away means another early update to ‘Islands of Hope.’ After the busy times of the last few weeks and the fact I am updating two days early, you might think this weeks update is only a few hundred words. Well no, it has been another week of flowing writing. In fact this section has been one of the easiest to write. It follows Kira’s mother on the first step of her mission. It is basically about building tension and showing that Johanna, like Kira, is trapped in a world she did not ask to be part of. I though I would only write about five hundred words of her entering the city, but other ideas jumped in and I have managed over double that. I am really happy with it, it may just be my favourite part of the story so for. Not because it is overly exciting but because I think it reads well, showing you how she feels rather than explaining everything in detail. Why not find out if you agree by heading to wattpad. You can read Chapter 17 here, or start from the beginning here.

Islands of Hope Update – 17/03/2018

It is another short update this week. Like last week I could have written more but have focused on editing ‘A Close Shave with Destiny.’ Once more I felt I could have made the section longer but feel the succinct nature gives all the information needed and allows the story to move at a good pace. I am one of these writers that does not like to describe settings in detail but rather build them through dialogue and interactions. It is hopefully clear from the conversation that Kira stills feels trapped and that her and Eliana are living together. Eliana continues to be her rock as well as tutor. The good news is that Chapter 16 is now finished (another reason the update is short, I do not like to update over two chapters), it has been very much a collection of short snippets that set up the plot but overall I am happy with it. The update is once again on wattpad, you can read Chapter 16 here, or start from the beginning here.

Islands of Hope Update – 10/03/2018

I don’t know how but I found myself with a bit more time this week. I wrote about five hundred words for this week’s update but could have written more. I decided, instead, to edit some more of ‘A Close Shave with Destiny.’ I really want to get that book released! Back to ‘Islands of Hope,’ it is now over twenty thousand words so can be considered a novella. I find that pretty exciting even if you do not! This week we see a bit of fire back in Kira, but most of her meeting with Du Puteron is plot set up. Anyway, you can read the update on wattpad. Chapter 16 is here, or you can read from the beginning here.

Islands of Hope Update – 03/03/2018

Sorry, another small one this week. I did warn you though. Have been really busy and the snow has played havoc so spent extra time travelling to and from work. I have managed to start Chapter 16 and brought to the surface some old plot points to keep them going i.e. Kira’s attraction to Eliana. I started writing a scene where Kira is summoned to talk to Du Puteron but did not have much time to get far. I was going to leave the start out but thought, what the heck, might as well include it in this update as I have written it. Will probably be another short update next week too I’m afraid. Anyway, you can read it all on wattpad. Chapter 16 is here or you can start from the beginning here.
